Robotics, AI and Future of Law – a book about the use of new technologies in the legal profession

Synch’s Dena Dervanović has written a chapter in a newly published book Robotics, AI and the Future of Law, published by Springer. This book lends a helping hand in understanding the possibilities that new technologies such as AI and related technologies offer to law and the legal profession. With its aim of offering a comprehensive insight into both the theoretical and more practical aspects of these emerging technologies and its relationship with the law, the book examines a variety of questions pertaining to the use of new technologies in the legal profession as well as the social impacts of such actions.

Dena has engaged into a thought experiment on the possibility of creating highly skilled AI lawyers that could potentially replace human lawyers and what obstacles, if any, exist in the way of such creation. Furthermore, Dena’s chapter focuses on the ethical constraints and questions we face by having such AI lawyers, as well as the potential of this technology resulting in universal access to affordable legal advice, ultimately redefining the legal profession in its entirety.
